Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain, fog, and wind in 11 regions

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather report for Saturday, revealing weather fluctuations affecting several regions of the Kingdom. This report is part of the ongoing monitoring efforts by relevant authorities to track climate changes and ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
Weather details and affected areas
The official statement from the Meteorology Department explained that weather maps indicate the continued impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand, which may lead to a decrease in horizontal visibility. This condition includes large parts of the Tabuk, Al-Jawf, and Northern Borders . These effects also extend to parts of the Hail, Qassim, and Riyadh , in addition to the Eastern , necessitating caution while driving on highways and open roads in these areas.
In contrast, the southern and western highlands are experiencing different weather conditions, with a continued chance of light rain accompanied by fog that may reduce visibility in the early morning and late evening hours. This weather pattern is concentrated over parts of the highlands in the Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha , and extends to include the highlands of the Makkah .
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the marine conditions, the report detailed the movement of waves and winds as follows:
- The Red Sea: Surface winds are expected to range from 14 to 34 km/h in the northern and central parts, while in the southern part they will be southeasterly to southerly, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h towards the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, and may exceed two meters in the southern part, creating rough sea conditions in that area.
- Arabian Gulf: Winds are recording speeds of more than 45 km/h in the northern and central parts with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds, while the wave height is moderate, reaching up to two meters in these parts, and light in the southern part.
The importance of weather monitoring and safety measures
These reports are of paramount importance given the vast geographical diversity of Saudi Arabia, where weather phenomena vary from region to region at the same time. This data plays a vital role in alerting drivers, especially truck drivers and intercity travelers, to the dangers of dust storms, which are among the most significant weather challenges in desert and open areas.
In such weather conditions, experts advise following the alerts of the Civil Defense and the National Center for Meteorology in real time, avoiding high speeds while driving in areas experiencing fog or dust, and also stressing the need for respiratory and asthma patients to stay away from areas of direct dust to protect their health.
