Saudi Arabia weather today: Thunderstorms and fog in 11 regions

The National Center for Meteorology issued its detailed daily report on weather conditions for this Saturday in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the Meteorology warned of widespread weather fluctuations including thunderstorms and the formation of dense fog in scattered parts of 11 administrative regions, which calls for caution and vigilance by citizens and residents.

According to the meteorological statement, forecasts indicate continued chances of thunderstorms, which may be accompanied by hail and strong winds that stir up dust and sand. This weather pattern includes parts of the following regions:

  • Eastern Province

Regarding maritime navigation, the center explained the details of wave and wind movement as follows:

Red Sea

  • Surface winds: They will be northerly to northwesterly in the northern and central parts at a speed of 15-45 km/h, while they will be southeasterly to southerly in the southern part at a speed of 12-32 km/h, and may reach a speed of 50 km/h with the formation of thunderclouds.
  • Wave height: It ranges from one to two meters in the north and center, and from half a meter to one and a half meters in the south, and may exceed two meters when thunderstorms occur.
  • Sea conditions: Moderate waves in the north and center, light to moderate in the south, turning rough with thunderstorms towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Arabian Gulf

  • Surface winds: They start southeasterly to northeasterly at a speed of 10-20 km/h, and turn in the afternoon to reach a speed of 50 km/h with thunderstorms.
  • Wave height: from half a meter to one and a half meters, reaching more than two meters during thunderstorms.
  • Sea state: Light to moderate waves, becoming rough with the formation of rain clouds.
