Saudi Arabia's weather forecast for next week: Active winds and scattered rain

Most regions of Saudi Arabia are expecting unstable weather conditions next week, with forecasts from the National Meteorological Center indicating significant surface wind activity and fluctuating temperatures, along with continued chances of rainfall in scattered parts of the country.
Details of the expected weather conditions
Aqeel Al-Aqeel, a weather analyst at the National Center for Meteorology, explained that weather maps indicate the Kingdom remains under the influence of a weather pattern that began to emerge in recent days. Several regions, particularly northeast of Riyadh, parts of the Qassim region, east of Mecca, and the Eastern Province, experienced rainfall ranging from light to moderate, accompanied by hail in some areas.
Rainfall amounts and forecast for the next 48 hours
In terms of rainfall amounts, Jubail Governorate recorded the highest amount in the past 24 hours, reaching approximately 9 mm. Forecasts for the next few days indicate continued chances of light and scattered rain, particularly concentrated in the eastern parts of the Kingdom, the Qassim region, and northern Riyadh. Partly cloudy skies are also expected over the capital, Riyadh, and the eastern regions, creating a mild winter atmosphere.
Wind activity and its expected effects
Wind activity will be the most prominent weather feature next week, with Al-Aqeel warning that it will affect most regions of the Kingdom and may stir up dust and sand, potentially reducing horizontal visibility, especially on highways and in open areas. The likelihood of sandstorms is particularly high in the far northern border regions and the Al-Jawf region.
Climate context and the importance of warnings
These weather fluctuations are occurring during a transitional period in the Kingdom's weather, as different air masses interact, leading to temperature variations between rises and falls, without the severe cold waves seen in the past. These forecasts are of particular importance to drivers and those traveling on highways, who are advised to follow official weather reports and exercise caution while driving in areas that may experience dust storms or sudden rainfall, in order to ensure public safety.
