Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain and fog in the Eastern Province, and winds in Tabuk

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued
Weather details for the Eastern Province
The Eastern Province experienced a wave of dense fog from the early morning hours, significantly reducing horizontal visibility. This weather condition affected major cities and governorates, including Dammam, Dhahran, Khobar, Qatif, Jubail, and Ras Tanura , as well as inland areas such as Hafr Al-Batin, Khafji, Nairyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya, Abqaiq, and others.
The center explained that horizontal visibility dropped to less than one kilometer in some areas, particularly on highways and in open areas, prompting a warning to drivers to exercise caution while driving. This foggy condition is expected to continue until 9:00 AM.
In a related development, the center warned of light to moderate rainfall in parts of the Eastern Province, specifically in Khafji, Hafr al-Batin, and Qaryat al-Ulya. This rainfall will be accompanied by several weather phenomena, including:
- Activity in surface winds.
- Hailstones fell.
- Thunderstorms.
- Torrential rains flow in valleys and ravines.
- High waves in coastal areas.
The report indicated that the rainy conditions will continue, God willing, until 10:00 AM.
Active winds are affecting the Tabuk region
On the other side of the Kingdom, the National Center for Meteorology warned the Tabuk region of active winds affecting coastal areas, including Al-Bada, Haql, Duba, and Neom Sharma . These winds, with speeds ranging from 40 to 49 km/h, are stirring up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility and causing high sea waves. This condition is expected to continue until 7:00 PM.
The importance of warnings and public safety guidelines
These warnings are of utmost importance due to their direct impact on traffic and daily life. The relevant authorities, including the Civil Defense, urge citizens and residents to adhere to safety guidelines during these weather fluctuations. During foggy conditions, it is advised to use vehicle fog lights, avoid using high beams, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.
It is also stressed that one must stay away from valleys and flood channels during rainfall, and not risk crossing valleys no matter how high the water level is, as this period is one of the transitional periods that witness rapid and sharp weather fluctuations in various regions of the Kingdom.
The National Center for Meteorology continuously monitors climate changes and issues early warnings (automated warning system) to ensure the safety of lives and property, which reflects the technological development in weather monitoring mechanisms in the Kingdom.
