Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain and dust in Riyadh and Mecca

The National Center for Meteorology issued its daily weather for Tuesday across Saudi Arabia, noting the continued unstable weather conditions characteristic of this transitional period. The center predicted a chance of light rain in scattered areas of the Madinah region, urging caution while driving on wet roads.
Wind activity and dust storms
In a related context, the report indicated the continued impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand, leading to reduced horizontal visibility in several areas. This includes parts of the Makkah, Al-Baha, and Asir regions, as well as the eastern parts of these regions. The meteorological department also warned of the possibility of fog formation during the night and early morning hours in the southern parts of the Eastern Province, which could significantly impair visibility.
Special alerts for the Riyadh region
The National Center for Meteorology issued specific warnings for the Riyadh region, as parts of it will experience active winds and blowing dust starting at 9:00 AM and continuing until 6:00 PM. This weather pattern includes the governorates of Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Dawadmi, Al-Rayn, Al-Quway'iyah, and Afif. Wind speeds in these areas are expected to reach between 40 and 49 kilometers per hour, accompanied by a significant decrease in horizontal visibility (3-5 kilometers).
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the maritime conditions, the report indicated that surface winds over the Red Sea will be northeasterly to northwesterly in the northern and central parts, and southeasterly to southerly in the southern part, with wave heights ranging from one to two meters. In the Arabian Gulf, thunderstorms with rain are expected in the southern part, which may lead to wave heights of up to two meters, and sea conditions will range from slight to moderate, potentially becoming rough.
The importance of following weather forecasts
These daily reports are issued as part of the relevant authorities' commitment to the safety of citizens and residents. The Kingdom is a vast country with diverse terrain and climates. These alerts play a vital role in regulating traffic on highways and warning seafarers and farmers, especially given the rapid weather changes that can affect daily activities and the economy.
