Saudi Arabia weather today: Rain, dust, fog, and weather alerts

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is experiencing widespread atmospheric instability, with the National Center for Meteorology its daily report indicating weather fluctuations affecting most regions of the Kingdom in the coming hours. These phenomena include thunderstorms, dust-raising winds, and reduced horizontal visibility due to dense fog in several areas.

Weather details in the northern and southern regions

According to weather forecasts, surface winds are expected to stir up dust and sand, potentially leading to near-zero horizontal visibility, particularly in parts of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, and the Northern Borders . The situation is not limited to dust; there is also a chance of light rain in some areas, necessitating caution for those traveling on highways.

Conversely, the rainy weather pattern extends to a wider area, with thunderstorms and rain expected over the highlands and parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah , and extending to parts of Riyadh and the Eastern Province. This weather pattern is accompanied by a chance of fog, particularly during the night and early morning hours, in the highlands as well as in Hail, Qassim, and Madinah regions.

Sea conditions and recorded temperatures

In terms of maritime navigation, the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf are experiencing significant turbulence. North to northwesterly winds are blowing across the northern and central parts of the Red Sea, while southeasterly winds are blowing across the southern part, with speeds reaching up to 50 km/h. This is causing waves to rise to over two meters and creating rough sea conditions. Similarly, the Arabian Gulf is experiencing variable winds and moderate to rough seas.

As for temperatures, As -Sawda the lowest minimum temperature at 4 degrees Celsius, followed by Sakaka at 5 degrees, Tarif at 6 degrees, and Hail and Tabuk at 7 degrees. Meanwhile, Sharurah recorded the highest maximum temperature at 31 degrees Celsius, and Makkah and Jazan at 30 degrees Celsius.

Climate context and the impact of weather fluctuations

These weather fluctuations are occurring within the context of the transitional period the Kingdom is experiencing. This period is typically characterized by the interaction of cold air masses from the north with warm, humid air currents, generating atmospheric instability. Such phenomena are natural given the Kingdom's diverse geography, which ranges from coastal plains to towering mountains and open desert regions.

The importance of monitoring these reports lies in their direct impact on daily life, whether on intercity travel due to reduced visibility, or on maritime activities and fishing along the western and eastern coasts. In such conditions, authorities consistently urge adherence to safety guidelines, avoidance of low-lying areas and floodplains during rainfall, and reduced speed on roads affected by dust or fog.
