Weather details in Najran
The center explained in its statement that the weather conditions in the Najran region include reduced horizontal visibility, expected to range between 3 and 5 kilometers. This impact is not limited to the city of Najran but extends to several of its governorates: Badr Al-Janoub, Thar, Yadmah, Khubash, and Habuna. The center indicated that this dust storm will continue until 6:00 PM today, urging caution for those using highways and those with respiratory conditions.
Thunderstorms and hail are expected in other areas
Concurrently with the dust storm in the south, other regions of the Kingdom are experiencing active rainfall. The National Center for Meteorology has forecast thunderstorms , which may lead to flash floods in valleys and ravines. The forecast also indicates that these storms will be accompanied by hail and strong winds that will stir up dust and sand.
The areas affected by this rainfall include large parts of Medina, Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jawf, and the Northern Borders region, extending to the northern parts of the Eastern Province. The report also noted the possibility of light rain in parts of the highlands of the western and southwestern regions of the Kingdom.
Climate context and the importance of alerts
These weather fluctuations are part of the climatic characteristics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially during the transitional periods between seasons, where surface winds stir up dust in open and desert areas such as Najran, while rain-bearing cumulonimbus clouds form in other areas as a result of low-pressure systems.
These warnings are of paramount importance for maintaining public safety, as they guide citizens and residents to avoid danger zones, especially valleys during flash floods, or highways experiencing poor visibility. The relevant authorities consistently urge the public to stay updated on weather reports and adhere to Civil Defense instructions to ensure the safety of lives and property.
