Today's maximum temperatures in Saudi Arabia: Dammam, Riyadh, and Mecca

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued its detailed daily weather report, revealing significant variations in maximum temperatures recorded today, Thursday, across different regions and cities of the Kingdom. This report is part of the Center's ongoing and meticulous monitoring of weather changes, aimed at providing citizens and residents with accurate information to help them plan their daily activities.
Details of maximum temperatures in Saudi cities
Data released by the center showed significant variations between the northern regions, which recorded a noticeable decrease, and the coastal and central regions. The maximum temperatures recorded in the major cities and governorates were as follows:
- Eastern and Central Region: Dammam, Riyadh, Al-Ahsa and Al-Kharj recorded similar temperatures ranging around 23 degrees Celsius, while Hafr Al-Batin recorded 20 degrees, and Al-Majma’ah 24 degrees Celsius.
- Western and coastal region: Makkah topped the list with 30 degrees Celsius, followed by Jeddah with 29 degrees, Yanbu with 28 degrees, while Madinah recorded 26 degrees Celsius.
- Northern regions: witnessed a clear decrease, with Tarif recording the lowest maximum temperature at 11 degrees Celsius, Al-Qurayyat and Arar at 15 degrees, and Sakaka and Rafha at 16 degrees Celsius.
- The southern highlands: characterized by moderate weather and relative coolness, with Abha recording 20 degrees, Al-Baha 18 degrees, and Al-Soudah 15 degrees Celsius.
Climatic and geographical diversity in the Kingdom
This report reflects the great geographical and climatic diversity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. While northern regions such as Tarif and Qurayyat experience cold winter weather due to their geographical location and exposure to air masses from the north, coastal areas such as Jeddah, Jazan (28°C), and Al-Qunfudhah (30°C) maintain relatively warm weather due to the influence of the Red Sea and humidity. Topography also plays a crucial role in temperature, as evidenced by the lower temperatures in mountainous areas such as As-Soudah and Al-Baha compared to lower-lying regions.
The role of the National Center for Meteorology and the importance of data
The National Center for Meteorology is the official body authorized to issue weather forecasts in the Kingdom. It relies on a wide network of advanced monitoring stations and satellites to ensure data accuracy. These reports are of paramount importance not only to individuals but also to vital sectors such as aviation, agriculture, and maritime navigation. Knowing the maximum and minimum temperatures helps in taking necessary precautions, especially during periods of unstable weather, thus contributing to maintaining public safety and avoiding potential hazards resulting from sudden weather changes.
