Saudi Arabia weather: Snow in Hail, rain in Al-Kharj and Al-Dilam

The National Center for Meteorology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued important weather alerts regarding the weather conditions in several regions of the Kingdom, indicating severe weather fluctuations ranging from snowfall and strong winds in the northern regions, to heavy rainfall in the central regions, which calls for caution and vigilance on the part of citizens and residents.
Hail weather details: Strong winds and snow
In the Hail region, the center warned of strong winds ranging from 40 to 49 kilometers per hour. The report explained that this weather condition affects open areas and highways, leading to dust storms and a significant decrease in horizontal visibility. This condition is expected to continue, God willing, until 10:00 PM this evening.
In a related development, parts of the Hail region witnessed a remarkable winter event yesterday evening, with snow falling on the outskirts of the city, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall. The Hail region boasts a unique geography, including the Aja and Salma mountain ranges, making it prone to such winter phenomena, which attract hikers and photography enthusiasts, but require extreme caution while driving.
Rain in Al-Kharj and Al-Dilam
Meanwhile, the Al-Kharj and Al-Dilam governorates in the Riyadh region experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. This rain affected the centers within both governorates, leading to flash floods in several valleys and ravines of varying intensity. This rainfall is considered a welcome development for the region, which is known for its intensive agricultural activity, as it will contribute to irrigating farms and replenishing groundwater reserves.
The importance of warnings and safety procedures
These warnings come as part of the vital role played by the National Center of Meteorology in monitoring climate changes and protecting lives and property. In such conditions, relevant authorities, including the Civil Defense, emphasize the need to stay away from floodplains and valleys, and to avoid attempting to cross them while they are flowing. They also urge caution when driving on highways experiencing strong winds that could affect vehicle stability.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recently witnessed remarkable climate changes during the winter seasons, as polar cold waves overlap with rainy low-pressure systems, creating diverse natural landscapes ranging from snow in the north to rain in the center and south. May God make it a rain of mercy and blessing, and may its benefits extend throughout the country.
