Saudi Arabia's weather forecast for tomorrow: Strong winds in Al-Jawf and rain in the Eastern Province

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued
Weather details in Al-Jawf region
The center explained in its report that the Al-Jawf will experience significant surface wind activity, which it classified as "strong winds." This weather pattern will affect three main governorates: Dumat Al-Jandal, Al-Qurayyat, and Tabuk . Wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 49 kilometers per hour, leading to dust storms and sandstorms.
The report indicated that this weather condition will begin at nine o'clock in the morning and continue until six o'clock in the evening on Sunday, accompanied by a decrease in horizontal visibility, which calls for caution, especially for those using highways and open areas where sand dunes are abundant.
Orange alert in the Eastern region
Coinciding with the northerly winds, the Eastern Province received an "orange alert" from the National Center for Meteorology. The alert covered the governorates of Al-Ahsa, Al-Udayd, and Buqayq, as well as open areas and highways. The center warned of moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, hail, flash floods, thunderstorms, water accumulation, and near-zero horizontal visibility.
Geographical context and the importance of alerts
These warnings are particularly important given the geographical nature of the Al-Jawf region, located in the north of the Kingdom and considered a vital land gateway connecting Saudi Arabia to the Levant. The region's open terrain makes it susceptible to strong winds, which directly impacts international land transport through the Al-Haditha border crossing in Al-Qurayyat, as well as intercity traffic.
Historically, the northern regions of the Kingdom experience fluctuating weather patterns during the transitional periods between seasons, characterized by strong winds and dust storms. This well-known climatic pattern necessitates constant preparedness from service and security agencies. These early warnings play a crucial role in reducing traffic accidents and protecting public and private property.
Public safety recommendations
Under these conditions, it is always advisable to follow the guidelines of the Civil Defense and relevant authorities, which typically include avoiding speeding on highways during windy conditions to prevent vehicles from veering suddenly, and staying away from floodplains and valleys in areas experiencing rainfall, such as the Eastern Province. Adherence to official warnings issued by the National Center of Meteorology is also a fundamental pillar for ensuring public safety amidst the climatic changes the region is experiencing.
