The Public Transport Authority showcases smart transport solutions at the TRB conference

The Public Transport Authority concluded its strategic participation in the Transportation Research Board (TRB) conference, which was held in Washington, D.C., and is one of the most important annual international forums that brings together transportation sector leaders, researchers and decision-makers from around the world.
The Kingdom’s participation, represented by the Authority’s delegation headed by the Authority’s Undersecretary for Transport Empowerment, Dr. Omaima bint Omar Bamsq, came to emphasize the growing role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in shaping the future of global transport, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics hub linking the three continents.
Research papers and smart solutions for operational efficiency
The Authority's participation included the presentation of two specialized research papers, which focused on reviewing the latest innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency of the transportation sector and raise the level of operational and organizational performance. This research comes at a time when the world is witnessing a rapid shift towards smart and sustainable transportation, as the Kingdom seeks to implement global best practices to reduce carbon emissions and improve the user experience.
The Saudi delegation also actively participated in the specialized dialogue sessions, which discussed the current challenges facing global supply chains, and the future opportunities for adopting artificial intelligence technologies and big data analytics in managing the transport system.
The Hajj Experience: A Global Model in Crowd Management and Transportation
In reviewing successful experiences, the Authority highlighted its unique experience in managing the movement of millions of pilgrims during Hajj seasons, specifically the preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season. The Authority also addressed the pivotal role of public-private partnerships in developing infrastructure, including the operation of the Holy Sites Metro , which is considered a global model for rail transport designed to manage large crowds in record time.
This axis is of particular importance given the huge logistical challenges required to manage the Hajj season, making the Saudi experience a reference for countries and organizations concerned with organizing major events and managing traffic crises.
The importance of the TRB conference and the Kingdom's leading role
The Transport Research Council (TRB) conference is a vital platform for knowledge exchange, bringing together thousands of professionals to discuss issues related to land, sea, and air transport. The Kingdom's participation reflects its commitment to developing the transport industry not only domestically but also to contributing to international efforts to raise safety and sustainability standards.
Through these partnerships, the Public Transport Authority works to enhance international cooperation and attract quality investments to the sector, in service of the national strategy for transport and logistics, which aims to increase the capacity of the Saudi transport system and enhance its global competitiveness.
