The Municipality of Qaryat Al-Ulya Governorate officially announced the final results of its comprehensive field campaign, which carried the slogan “Qaryat Al-Ulya is the most beautiful,” and whose activities continued for three consecutive months, starting from the first of September and ending on the 30th of November 2025. These intensive efforts resulted in the removal of 1887 cubic meters of waste and debris, in addition to carrying out extensive maintenance work on green spaces and rainwater drainage networks, within the framework of the municipality’s continuous endeavor to enhance the quality of life and improve the urban landscape.
A strategic context that aligns with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This campaign is an integral part of the comprehensive national efforts underway in the cities and governorates of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the objectives of the Quality of Life Program, one of the most important programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. These field initiatives aim to humanize cities, eliminate visual pollution, and improve the efficiency of municipal services provided to residents. The Qaryat Al-Ulya Governorate holds particular importance due to its geographical location in the Eastern Province, making the preservation of its urban and aesthetic environment a top priority to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for residents and visitors.
Details of field achievements and removal of distortions
The municipality's field and inspection teams achieved record-breaking results during the campaign, successfully identifying, processing, and removing 1,887 cubic meters of unidentified waste and debris that had been posing an environmental and visual burden in various locations throughout the governorate and its affiliated centers. These removals have contributed to opening up roads and beautifying previously neglected areas, reflecting a commitment to enforcing municipal regulations and maintaining public cleanliness.
Enhancing green spaces and preparing for the rainy season
As part of its efforts to increase green spaces and improve the climate, the campaign included the maintenance and landscaping of a vast area of 28,836 square meters of green spaces in parks, public gardens, and along roadsides. The campaign also extended to the pruning and maintenance of 584 trees and palms, contributing to enhancing the city's aesthetic appeal, reducing temperatures, and purifying the air.
Regarding infrastructure and seasonal preparations, the municipality has given considerable attention to stormwater drainage networks, with technical teams cleaning and maintaining 377 stormwater catchment sites. This step is of paramount importance to ensure the smooth flow of water and protect public and private property from the dangers of water accumulation, especially with the onset of the rainy season, thus enhancing public safety standards in the governorate.
Ongoing commitment to service improvement
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghamdi, Mayor of Qaryat Al-Ulya Governorate, confirmed that the campaign achieved its objectives in addressing visual pollution and improving the urban landscape. Al-Ghamdi explained that the efforts were not merely a temporary clean-up campaign, but rather a comprehensive institutional project that included coordinating public facilities and raising the level of services. He emphasized that the municipality will continue its efforts at the same pace to maintain the gains achieved, calling on citizens and residents to cooperate with the municipality to preserve the cleanliness and beauty of the governorate.
