Madinah: Welcoming pilgrims from Algeria and the Philippines

In an atmosphere of faith and spirituality, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began welcoming pilgrims for this year's Hajj season (1447 AH). Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah witnessed the arrival of the first flights carrying pilgrims from Algeria and the Philippines. Their entry procedures were completed smoothly, easily, and with peace of mind, reflecting the early and intensive preparations undertaken by the relevant authorities to serve the pilgrims and facilitate their spiritual journey from the moment of their arrival.
The Kingdom's ongoing efforts to welcome and serve the pilgrims
For decades, caring for pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah has been a top priority for the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Historically, the mechanisms for receiving these guests of God have evolved dramatically, from arduous journeys that took months by caravan and ship in the past to the modern era, where the latest technologies are employed to facilitate their arrival. Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, the second air gateway to the Two Holy Mosques, represents a qualitative leap in the history of Saudi civil aviation. It was designed and expanded specifically to accommodate the increasing millions of pilgrims annually, embodying the Kingdom's historical and religious commitment to providing the utmost comfort and safety for all those who visit the Holy Sites.
Dimensions and implications of the successful international and regional Hajj pilgrimage
The success of the Hajj operations and crowd management extends beyond the local level, leaving a broad and positive impact at both the regional and international levels. The meticulous organization witnessed annually reinforces the Kingdom's position as a global leader in managing massive gatherings. Locally, this annual event contributes to stimulating economic activity and continuously developing infrastructure. Internationally, the return of pilgrims to their countries, such as Algeria and the Philippines, with positive impressions of the ease of procedures and the warm welcome they received, reflects the Kingdom's soft power and highlights its tolerant message of uniting Muslims from all corners of the earth under one banner and in one place, in safety and peace.
Passport readiness and use of the latest technologies
In a related context, the General Directorate of Passports confirmed its complete readiness to finalize entry procedures for pilgrims performing Hajj this year. It explained that it has mobilized all its human and technological resources to support its platforms at all international ports of entry, whether air, land, or sea. The Passports Directorate relies on the latest advanced technologies to expedite document verification, in addition to providing qualified personnel who speak multiple languages to ensure effective communication with pilgrims, meet their needs, and guide them appropriately.
It is worth noting that initiatives such as the “Makkah Route” launched by the Saudi Ministry of Interior as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs have truly revolutionized the Hajj experience. This initiative allows pilgrims to complete their entry procedures into the Kingdom from their home airports, meaning that upon arrival at Madinah or Jeddah airports, they proceed directly to their designated buses to take them to their accommodations without any waiting, embodying the highest standards of care and attention to the comfort of those visiting the Two Holy Mosques.
