The Red Crescent opens Ramadan volunteering in Madinah 1447 AH

Saudi Red Crescent Authority has officially announced the opening of registration for those wishing to join its volunteer programs during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH in Madinah. This strategic step aims to enhance emergency preparedness and improve response efficiency during one of the busiest and most spiritually significant seasons.

The importance of volunteering during Ramadan in Medina

Volunteer work in Medina during Ramadan takes on exceptional importance due to the large crowds in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque and the surrounding areas. The presence of volunteer teams is a cornerstone in supporting government efforts to serve pilgrims, as volunteers contribute to reducing response times to emergencies and providing direct assistance to Umrah performers and visitors, reflecting the Kingdom's exemplary service to the Two Holy Mosques.

This initiative is in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which seeks to reach one million volunteers, and the Red Crescent Authority is a key partner in achieving this goal by attracting talent and training them to work in different field environments.

Available volunteering pathways

The authority explained that the volunteer opportunities for this season are divided into two main tracks to ensure that all field needs are covered:

• emergency response route targets licensed healthcare practitioners (doctors, nurses, paramedics, and health college students). Their role is to provide urgent medical care, manage critical cases in the courtyards and corridors, and support official ambulance teams in dealing with cases of exhaustion and chronic illnesses that may affect visitors.
• The logistical and support track focuses on operational and organizational support. Volunteers here facilitate the movement of ambulances, organize gatherings to ensure paramedics reach the injured, and provide administrative and field support to ensure the continued efficient operation throughout the holy month.

Registration mechanism and dates

The authority confirmed that registration is available through the official volunteering platform, where a separate opportunity code has been allocated for each track to make it easier for volunteers to choose the field that matches their experience and academic qualifications. This platform is the official portal for documenting volunteer hours and issuing accredited certificates to participants.

The authority has set the registration period, with applications being accepted from January 6, 2026 , until January 29, 2026. The authority invites all eligible citizens and residents to register for the honor of serving visitors to the city of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to contribute to this noble humanitarian endeavor, which embodies the values ​​of solidarity and compassion in Saudi society.
