The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Ramadan programs reach Zimbabwe to support Muslims

As part of its annual efforts to support Muslims worldwide during the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' programs for distributing dates and providing iftar meals in the Republic of Zimbabwe. The launch ceremony was held at the Quran Mosque in the Adbeni neighborhood of the capital, Harare, in the presence of a number of prominent Islamic and da'wah leaders in the country.

General context and historical background of the event

This initiative is part of a long-standing tradition in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of extending a helping hand to Muslim communities worldwide, especially during Ramadan, the month of giving and generosity. The date distribution program reflects profound cultural and religious significance, as Muslims follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in breaking their fast with dates. These programs, overseen by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, are a cornerstone of the Kingdom's humanitarian diplomacy, aiming to promote the values of solidarity and Islamic brotherhood and to meet the needs of those fasting across the globe.

Program details and objectives in Zimbabwe

This year, the program in Zimbabwe aims to distribute three tons of premium dates, expected to benefit approximately 12,000 Muslim families. Additionally, the Iftar program provides complete Iftar meals for around 2,000 fasting individuals throughout the holy month. The launch ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the President of the Islamic Call Society, Marouf Ali; the President of the Al-Noor Islamic Education Society, Laja Yassinu; the President of the Mount Darwin Society, Ibrahim Brian Sokany; the President of the Business Society for Culture and Development, Issa Colin; and the preacher, Shoaib Asali.

The importance and expected impact of the initiative

Locally, this support is of particular importance to the Muslim community in Zimbabwe, as it helps alleviate the financial burdens on needy families and strengthens social bonds through communal iftar meals. In his remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Issa Collin expressed his sincere gratitude to the Kingdom's government, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, commending these blessed efforts that serve Islam and Muslims. Internationally, these initiatives reinforce the Kingdom's position as a leader of the Islamic world and highlight its global humanitarian role, while also contributing to strengthening bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs implements a date distribution program in more than 120 countries and an iftar program for fasting individuals in 70 countries worldwide.
