The Minister of Justice inaugurates the project to develop the work of the general courts

His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Dr. Walid Al-Samaani, inaugurated today the new central model aimed at developing the work of the general courts, during an inspection visit he made to the General Court in Riyadh. This strategic step comes as a result of the generous and unlimited support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the continuous and meticulous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them both – with the aim of advancing the judicial system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and raising its operational and institutional efficiency.

The journey of digital and judicial transformation in the Kingdom

The launch of this model was not a spur-of-the-moment decision, but rather a natural extension of a long history of structural and organizational reforms undertaken by the Saudi judicial system in recent years, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Historically, Saudi courts have undergone several developmental phases, transitioning from traditional paper-based processes to full automation and remote litigation via advanced electronic platforms. Today's project to develop the work of the general courts culminates these efforts, propelling the judicial system to a stage of full institutional maturity. This model relies on meticulous governance, specialized expertise, and standardized procedures that ensure the administration of justice through a clear and transparent process, leveraging the latest digital capabilities and artificial intelligence technologies, which have become fundamental pillars in supporting judicial operations and procedures.

Quality initiatives to enhance the quality of the judiciary

During his visit, Dr. Waleed Al-Samaani reviewed a range of initiatives and development projects related to the central model. These initiatives included modern mechanisms for developing and preparing cases before they are presented to the judge, as well as activating written pleadings and preparatory sessions that directly contribute to clarifying the subject matter of the dispute. The importance of strengthening the role of judicial support centers was also highlighted, a crucial step that contributes to reducing litigation time, raising the efficiency of overall performance, and ensuring the quality of judicial rulings and outcomes, based on sound legal and objective foundations.

The strategic impact of developing the work of public courts

This launch carries significant implications that extend beyond the local level, reflecting on the Kingdom's regional and international standing. Domestically, the centralized model ensures consistency in procedures across courts and improves the efficiency of case distribution, thereby enhancing citizens' and residents' confidence in the speed and effectiveness of the judicial system. Regionally and internationally, the application of artificial intelligence in case analysis and supporting legal studies places the Saudi judiciary among the world's most advanced judicial systems. This remarkable development creates an attractive and stable legal environment, supporting foreign investment and improving the Kingdom's ranking in global rule of law and contract enforcement indices. At the conclusion of his tour, the Minister of Justice emphasized that these efforts aim to solidify the principles of institutional justice and keep pace with rapid legislative and regulatory developments, ultimately contributing to the achievement of the swift justice that everyone seeks.
