Saudi Arabia leads the world in intellectual property awareness 2025

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved a significant international milestone, reflecting the success of its national strategies, by recording advanced results in the 2025 WIPO Pulse report, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This report is one of the most authoritative international benchmarks measuring societies' understanding of intellectual property rights and their direct impact on economic and social development, based on a survey of approximately 35,500 participants from 74 countries worldwide.
Exceptional performance indicators and global leadership
The report's findings revealed that the Kingdom ranked among the world's leading countries in terms of awareness of the importance of intellectual property in supporting the national economy. National awareness of the positive impact of intellectual property on economic growth and innovation reached approximately 80%, a record high that places the Kingdom among the top countries in this vital indicator. The Kingdom also recorded significant growth in awareness among youth and women, making it a major contributor to raising the average performance of the Asia-Pacific region.
Context of the national vision and economic transformation
This achievement cannot be separated from the broader context of the major transformations the Kingdom is undergoing under Vision 2030. Since the establishment of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, the Kingdom has focused on building a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy, where protecting intellectual property rights is a cornerstone for attracting foreign investment and fostering local talent. This growing public awareness is the fruit of diligent legislative and regulatory efforts aimed at creating a safe environment for creators and innovators, free from the violations that previously hindered growth.
The economic and strategic impact of intellectual property awareness
This progress has profound economic implications. Increased public and consumer awareness of intellectual property rights boosts the confidence of global companies in the Saudi market, contributing to a greater influx of direct investments in the technology and creative industries. Furthermore, strengthening Saudi consumers' trust in genuine products and discouraging counterfeit goods improves quality of life and fosters fair competition, which positively impacts non-oil GDP.
The Authority's efforts and the future of innovation
This advanced performance reflects the effectiveness of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property's efforts in promoting public awareness and developing a system that respects intellectual property rights. This is achieved through launching awareness campaigns and intensifying initiatives aimed at increasing compliance and reducing violations. It is worth noting that the WIPO Pulse report focuses on five key areas: awareness of rights, consumer perception of protected products, the benefits of innovation, and confidence in the role of intellectual property in the economy. The Kingdom has demonstrated its excellence in these areas, confirming its position as a pivotal player in the global innovation ecosystem.
