Launch of the Media Studies Center at the Saudi Media Forum

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the media infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari announced the launch of the Saudi Press Agency's (SPA) "Center for Media Studies and Opinion Polls." This initiative establishes a reliable resource for collecting and analyzing big data, directly contributing to the development of media policies and supporting decision-makers based on sound scientific principles and clear performance indicators.
The context of media transformation and Vision 2030
This announcement comes at a time when the Saudi media landscape is undergoing radical transformations in line with the goals of Vision 2030, which places great importance on the media sector as a pillar of soft power and economic diversification. The media is no longer merely a conduit for news; it has become a comprehensive industry reliant on data and forward-looking analysis. The launch of this center reflects the Ministry's commitment to transitioning from traditional media practices to institutional, knowledge-based, and data-driven operations, thereby enhancing the credibility of Saudi media output both domestically and internationally.
Quality initiatives and the Fomex exhibition
During his speech at the Saudi Media Forum, Al-Dossari unveiled a package of 12 strategic initiatives, most notably the Saudi Media Innovation Camp, which aims to empower young talent. The minister emphasized that the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – may God protect him – for the forum has given it significant momentum and a deeper vision. He also highlighted the resounding success of the accompanying Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX), which witnessed record participation of over 250 local and international companies, reflecting the attractiveness of the Saudi market for media investments.
The importance of the event and its regional impact
This edition of the forum is particularly significant given the scale of participation and the nature of the issues addressed. Under the theme “Media in a Changing World,” the forum commenced with the participation of over 300 media leaders and experts from around the globe, speaking in more than 150 dialogue sessions. The forum, which runs until February 4, 2026, discusses the challenges and opportunities in the media industry and how to leverage modern technology and artificial intelligence in content creation. Experts emphasize that the outcomes of this forum, especially the new research center, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of media in the region and reinforcing Riyadh’s position as a leading media capital in the Middle East.
