Head of Media Regulation: The media sector is a promising strategic investment for 2026

The CEO of the General Authority for Media Regulation, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdul Latif, affirmed that the media sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is no longer merely a means of conveying news, but has transformed into a vital strategic investment that supports the national economy, and a fundamental pillar in the economic diversification system that the Kingdom seeks.

This came during his speech at the Saudi Media Forum 2026 , where he stressed that the Authority has worked to create a stimulating and flexible regulatory environment aimed at enhancing the confidence of local and international investors, and supporting innovation in the content industry, which ensures the creation of quality job opportunities for Saudi youth and achieving rapid and sustainable growth until 2030.

An attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for innovation

Al-Abdulatif pointed out that the transformations witnessed in the Kingdom's media legislative environment have directly contributed to attracting major international companies, noting that the new regulations take into account the rapid technological advancements in the global media landscape. He explained that the goal is to transform the Kingdom into a leading regional and international hub for media production and manufacturing, leveraging its advanced digital infrastructure and creative national talent.

Media as a pillar of the Kingdom's Vision 2030

This accelerated activity aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which views the media sector as a productive industry contributing to the non-oil GDP. The Kingdom is working to strengthen its position as a hub for filmmaking, digital broadcasting, and video games, thereby enhancing its soft power and showcasing its true image and culture to the world.

Saudi Media Forum 2026 Events

The Minister of Media, Mr. Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, inaugurated the fifth edition of the Saudi Media Forum 2026 in Riyadh, under the theme “Media in a Changing World.” The forum is witnessing significant momentum with the participation of more than 300 media leaders and experts from over 20 countries worldwide.

The forum's agenda includes over 150 specialized panel discussions exploring the intersections of media with politics, economics, culture, technology, and artificial intelligence. The forum will also be accompanied by the innovative edition of the Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX), the region's largest specialized media exhibition, featuring over 250 local and international companies showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in the world of media and communication.
