Launch of the Artificial Intelligence Document and Saudi Media Forum 2026 Initiatives

Minister of Media, Mr. Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossari, inaugurated a new era in the local and regional media landscape by announcing the launch of 12 qualitative initiatives, foremost among them the document “Principles of Artificial Intelligence in Media,” during his opening speech at the fifth edition of the Saudi Media Forum 2026, which kicked off in the capital, Riyadh, under the slogan “Media in a World in Shape.”.

A strategic document for regulating artificial intelligence

In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to leading responsible digital transformation, the Minister announced the issuance of the “Artificial Intelligence in Media Principles” document in strategic partnership with the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). This document aims to establish regulatory and ethical frameworks to solidify the principle of responsible use of modern technologies in newsrooms and content creation, ensuring that the AI revolution is leveraged to enhance media operations while maintaining credibility, reliability, and intellectual property rights. This aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives of building a robust digital economy.

Empowering media entrepreneurship

The announcements weren't limited to the regulatory aspect; they also encompassed development and investment through the launch of the Saudi Media Innovation Camp, "Saudi Mb," in addition to the "Tamkeen" and "Nomo" initiatives. These initiatives directly aim to support entrepreneurial ideas and transform creative media concepts into sustainable business models, thereby enhancing the media sector's contribution to non-oil GDP and creating new job opportunities for young Saudi talent in the fields of digital media and supporting technologies.

Saudi Media Forum: A Global Platform

In his address, Al-Dossari emphasized that the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – may God protect him – for the forum has given it a strategic dimension and a deeper vision, transforming it into a major international platform. The fifth edition of the forum is witnessing broad participation, with over 300 media leaders and experts from around the world speaking in more than 150 dialogue sessions discussing the current state and future of the media industry.

Future Media Exhibition “FOMEX”

Concurrently with the forum sessions, the innovative edition of the Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX) is witnessing a significant turnout and record participation, exceeding 250 local and international companies. This exhibition, the largest of its kind in the region, showcases the latest technologies in broadcasting, production, and augmented reality, providing exceptional opportunities for exchanging expertise and forging partnerships between Saudi media organizations and their global counterparts, further solidifying Riyadh's position as a leading media capital in the Middle East.
