The Media Academy launches a sports technical analysis program for 40 trainees

The Saudi Media Academy launched its specialized training program, “Sports Technical Analysis,” today in Riyadh. This initiative is part of the Academy’s ongoing efforts to develop national talent and enhance the skills of media professionals. The program, offered in strategic partnership with the Saudi Sports Media Federation , saw wide participation, with over 40 trainees from various government and private sector media professionals attending.

Training modules that keep pace with modern media

The two-day program focuses on delivering intensive training content that combines theory and practice, delving into the in-depth concept of technical sports analysis and its various forms. The program goes beyond the basics, exploring practical details that answer fundamental questions about how to cultivate a professional sports analyst. It also examines the key differences between global analytical schools (Italian, Spanish, English, and others) and outlines career paths for analysts across traditional and digital media platforms.

Keeping pace with the Saudi sports boom

This step takes on added significance when viewed within the context of the major transformations underway in the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia is experiencing an unprecedented sporting movement, exemplified by the qualitative leap of the Roshan Professional League and the attraction of international stars, in addition to hosting major global events. This sporting renaissance necessarily requires a parallel evolution in the language of media discourse and analysis, enabling it to address local and international audiences with the language of numbers and technical facts, rather than mere emotional impressions—a principle the program aims to establish.

From screens to digital platforms

Given the changing consumption habits of the public, the program dedicates significant time to exploring analytical approaches used across modern media, such as podcasts and social media platforms, in addition to television. Participants are trained in the fundamentals of developing insightful analytical perspectives capable of deeply analyzing matches in various sports, with a particular focus on data journalism and the use of modern technological tools and statistical software, which have become integral to contemporary sports analysis.

Investing in human capital and Vision 2030

This course is a significant step that translates the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in empowering Saudi youth and developing human capital. Building specialized and professional media capabilities not only contributes to raising the quality of media coverage, but also enhances the readiness of Saudi media to meet upcoming challenges, such as hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the Kingdom's bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, thus ensuring the presence of qualified national personnel capable of managing the sports media landscape according to international standards.
