Independence Day: A pivotal historical milestone
Every year on January 1st, Sudan celebrates its independence from Anglo-Egyptian rule, an event that took place in 1956 and marked a major turning point in the history of Africa and the Arab world. Sudan was among the first countries in the region to gain independence, inspiring liberation movements across the continent. For the Sudanese people, this anniversary symbolizes national sovereignty and pride, and an opportunity to draw upon the values of national unity to build a promising future.
