General context and depth of historical relations
This diplomatic gesture reflects the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait. These bonds extend to shared history, culture, and social fabric, and are continuously strengthened through joint coordination at all levels within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The two countries have always stood shoulder to shoulder in confronting regional challenges, and Saudi Arabia's resolute stance in supporting the liberation of Kuwait in 1991 is a testament to the strength of this strategic alliance. The exchange of condolences on such occasions is not merely a diplomatic protocol, but rather an affirmation of the strong familial and personal ties between the leaderships of the two countries, which form a solid foundation for official relations.
