The leadership offers condolences to the King of Jordan on the death of former Prime Minister Ahmed Obeidat
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent cables of condolence and sympathy to His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the death of former Prime Minister Ahmed Obeidat, who passed away after a life full of giving in service to his country and nation.

Ahmad Obeidat: A rich political and national career
The late Ahmed Obeidat is considered one of the most prominent political and national figures in the history of modern Jordan. Born in the Hartha region of Irbid Governorate in 1938, Obeidat rose through the ranks of government and security positions, eventually reaching the highest levels. He began his career as a teacher, then joined the General Intelligence Directorate, where he rose through the ranks to become its director, becoming known for his security and political acumen.
The deceased served as Minister of the Interior, then was tasked with forming a government and became Prime Minister between 1984 and 1985. During his time as Prime Minister, he was known for his focus on administrative reform and combating corruption. He also played a prominent role in drafting the Jordanian National Charter and served several terms in the Senate, making him an important political and legal authority in the country.
