Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries condemn Israeli violations in Gaza

The foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Turkey issued a joint statement expressing their strong and unequivocal condemnation of the repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. These latest violations have resulted in casualties, with reports indicating that more than a thousand Palestinians have been killed or wounded, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Context of events and challenges to stability
This unified Arab and Islamic stance comes at a highly sensitive time, as the Gaza Strip faces complex humanitarian and security conditions. The truce in the Strip has always been fragile and prone to collapse due to military actions that disrupt normal life. This condemnation is particularly significant given the historical context of the conflict, where past experiences have demonstrated that any ill-considered military escalation is paid for by innocent civilians and returns the region to square one of tension and instability, necessitating decisive diplomatic intervention to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
Risks of undermining international peace efforts
In their statement, the ministers stressed that these practices represent a dangerous escalation that threatens to undermine current international and regional efforts. The statement specifically noted that these violations come at a time when efforts are focused on advancing the second phase of President Donald Trump's peace plan, as well as implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803. The ministers affirmed that the continuation of these violations poses a direct threat to the political process and obstructs efforts to create the conditions necessary for a more stable security and humanitarian transition in Gaza.
The importance of unified diplomatic action
This diplomatic alignment by influential countries in the Islamic world and the region reflects a profound understanding of the gravity of the situation. The anticipated impact of this escalation extends beyond the local level, casting a shadow over the stability of the entire region. Therefore, the ministers called upon all parties involved to fully assume their responsibilities, exercise maximum restraint to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire, and refrain from any actions that could undermine the prospects for early recovery and reconstruction, which the people of Gaza urgently need.
The rights of the Palestinian people and a just solution
In concluding their statement, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the centrality of the Palestinian issue, stressing the importance of achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace. They clarified that this peace must be based on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state, in accordance with international law, relevant Security Council resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative, which they consider the fundamental framework for achieving stability in the Middle East.
