Saudi Arabia in Arabian Gulf Security 4: Review of Drug Control Technologies

The Saudi Ministry of Interior continues to enhance its regional and international presence through its active participation in the security exhibition accompanying the joint tactical exercise for security agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, “ Arabian Gulf Security 4 ,” which is being hosted by the sisterly State of Qatar at the “Qatar Mall” complex from January 30 to February 4, 2026.

Review of efforts in the war on drugs

This participation comes at a time when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is leading a comprehensive and decisive national campaign against the scourge of drugs. The Ministry has dedicated a significant portion of its pavilion to showcasing its advanced strategies in combating drug trafficking . The pavilion provides visitors with a detailed explanation of the proactive strikes launched by Saudi security agencies against smuggling and distribution networks, both domestically and through international and regional cooperation, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to protecting its society and the Gulf societies from these poisons.

Artificial intelligence and digital transformation

As part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to digitize government services, the Ministry of Interior is showcasing the latest artificial intelligence used in maintaining security and managing crowds, particularly during major seasons such as Hajj and Umrah. The exhibition also highlights the significant advancements in e-services through the “Absher” platform, which has become a leading model for providing smart solutions to citizens, residents, and visitors, streamlining procedures and enhancing the quality of life and security.

Context of the exercise and its strategic importance

The joint tactical exercise “Arabian Gulf Security 4” commenced several days ago with the participation of specialized security forces from the Ministry of Interior and the Presidency of State Security in the Kingdom, along with their counterparts from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and friendly units from the United States of America. This exercise carries profound strategic implications, as it aims to:

• Strengthening joint security work: Raising the level of coordination and readiness among Gulf security agencies to confront potential challenges and threats.
• Exchange of experiences: Benefiting from the diverse field and technical experiences of participating countries in the areas of combating terrorism and organized crime.
• Message of unity of destiny: Emphasizing that the security of the Gulf states is indivisible, and that cooperation is the best way to ensure the stability of the region.

The “Arabian Gulf Security” series of exercises is an extension of a long history of security cooperation, as the Kingdom and other Gulf countries have previously hosted previous editions, which has contributed to unifying security concepts and developing the joint command and control system, thus ensuring the sustainability of security and stability in the vital Gulf region.
