Saudi-Indian cooperation: Talks to enhance security and stability

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, received His Excellency Mr. Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor of the Republic of India, at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting addressed ways to enhance Saudi-Indian cooperation across various strategic sectors, in addition to reviewing the latest regional and international developments and efforts to achieve global security and stability. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Saud Al-Sati, was also present.
Historical dimensions and a strategic partnership support Saudi-Indian cooperation
These high-level talks come within the framework of the strong historical relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of India, which extend over decades of joint coordination and close cultural and economic ties. These relations have witnessed a qualitative leap in recent years, particularly after the establishment of the Saudi-Indian Strategic Partnership Council, which aims to institutionalize cooperation and expand its horizons in the fields of security, defense, trade, investment, and energy. India is a major trading partner for the Kingdom, and both countries continuously seek to enhance trade and investment exchange in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and India's development aspirations. The people-to-people and cultural ties between the two countries serve as a strong bridge that enhances the effectiveness of this cooperation, as the Kingdom is home to a large Indian community that actively contributes to the nation's economic development and progress.
The importance of the meeting and its impact on regional and international stability
This meeting is of paramount importance both regionally and internationally, given the significant geopolitical and economic standing of both Riyadh and New Delhi. At the local and regional levels, the ongoing security and political coordination between the two countries contributes to strengthening counterterrorism efforts and securing vital maritime routes in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Gulf, which positively impacts global trade and international energy supplies. This direct coordination also provides an opportunity to unify visions and positions on pressing issues such as climate change, food security, and digital transformation, thus ensuring the interests of both friendly nations and supporting the stability of the entire region.
At the international level, strengthening the partnership between the two powers is a cornerstone for achieving balance and stability in Asia and beyond. Discussions on regional developments and the exchange of views on them underscore the pivotal role of Saudi and Indian diplomacy in resolving conflicts peacefully and supporting efforts toward sustainable development and global prosperity.
