A Saudi breakfast brings together 500 Palestinian orphans in the Baqa'a camp in Jordan

In a humanitarian gesture embodying the values of solidarity and brotherhood during the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia organized a Ramadan iftar meal for 500 orphaned Palestinian refugees in the Baqa'a camp in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This initiative is part of the "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Program for Iftar," which the Ministry implements annually in numerous countries around the world.
The program aims to extend a helping hand to needy Muslims around the world, and to strengthen the bonds of Islamic brotherhood, especially among the most needy groups such as orphans, refugees and impoverished families, in confirmation of the leading role that the Kingdom plays in serving Islam and Muslims.
Historical background and human context
The Baqa’a camp, which hosted this meal, is the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Jordan. It was established in 1968 to house Palestinians displaced as a result of the 1967 war. The camp is located north of the capital, Amman, and its residents face significant economic and social challenges, making such humanitarian initiatives deeply impactful in alleviating their suffering and bringing joy to the hearts of children and families during the holy month.
The importance and impact of the initiative
The importance of this initiative extends beyond simply providing breakfast; it encompasses significant psychological and social dimensions. Locally, this event brings smiles to the faces of orphaned children, instilling in them a sense of community care and support, and fostering the spiritual and social atmosphere of Ramadan. Regionally and internationally, it reflects the continuity of Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting humanitarian causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, and strengthens the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Program details and global objectives
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Abdullah bin Yatim Al-Anzi, explained that this year's allocations for Jordan include 15 tons of premium dates, in addition to providing communal iftar meals for 5,000 fasting individuals. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' program for providing iftar meals is being implemented this year in 70 countries worldwide, targeting millions of fasting people. This underscores the Kingdom's global humanitarian mission and its tireless efforts to extend aid and generosity across the globe.
