Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Foreign Minister, at the Presidential Palace in Cairo on Monday, as part of an official visit by His Highness to the Arab Republic of Egypt, affirming the depth of the fraternal and strategic relations that bind the two brotherly countries.
His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening, where he is scheduled to hold extensive talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs. These meetings come within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultation between Riyadh and Cairo on various issues of common interest.
The dimensions of the visit and its important timing
Prince Faisal bin Farhan's visit to Cairo is of particular importance given the current circumstances, as the Middle East region faces unprecedented geopolitical challenges. Saudi-Egyptian relations are a cornerstone of stability in the Arab world, with the two countries representing the two poles of balance in the Arab regional system. These talks aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various political, economic, and security fields, serving the interests of both brotherly nations.
Hot regional issues on the table
Regional issues are expected to top the agenda of talks between the two sides, primarily the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Both Saudi Arabia and Egypt are seeking to intensify diplomatic efforts to halt the military escalation, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid, and work towards a just political solution to the Palestinian issue that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people.
The talks also address joint coordination regarding other crises plaguing the region, such as the situations in Sudan, Libya and Yemen, in addition to the security of the Red Sea, where Saudi and Egyptian visions coincide on the need to preserve the unity and sovereignty of Arab states and reject foreign interference in their internal affairs.
Strategic and historic partnership
Relations between Riyadh and Cairo are based on a long history of solidarity and cooperation. The political leadership in both countries is constantly working to expand these relations, whether through the Saudi-Egyptian Coordination Council or through high-level reciprocal visits. This meeting reaffirms the shared destiny and goals, and the commitment of the Kingdom and Egypt to formulating unified Arab positions to confront the current challenges threatening Arab national security.
