The Saudi Foreign Minister discusses regional developments with his French counterpart

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call today from His Excellency Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. This call comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between Riyadh and Paris to enhance joint coordination on issues of mutual interest.
During the call, the two sides reviewed the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic and discussed ways to enhance them in various fields, serving the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and the efforts being made to ensure security and stability in the region.
Strategic partnership and ongoing coordination
The Saudi-French talks are of particular importance given the strategic partnership between the two countries, with France being a key partner for the Kingdom in Europe. Relations between the two nations have witnessed remarkable development in recent years, driven by the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which has opened up broad horizons for economic, cultural, and defense cooperation. The two countries' foreign ministers are keen to maintain communication to align their perspectives on the complex issues facing the international community.
Regional challenges and an active diplomatic role
The discussion of "regional developments" comes at a time of escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly concerning the situation in the Gaza Strip and its repercussions on neighboring countries, as well as the Lebanese issue, which is of shared French and Saudi interest. Saudi Arabia is playing a pivotal and leading role in diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and protecting civilians, a role that aligns with French efforts to promote calm and stability.
Coordination on ways to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, and support for political solutions to current crises, is expected to be at the heart of the talks between the two sides, given the weight and influence of the two countries in international decision-making.
Multilateral international cooperation
In addition to regional issues, the two countries share an interest in numerous international matters, such as combating terrorism, maritime security, and climate challenges. This engagement reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to building bridges with influential global powers to strengthen international cooperation and contribute to global development and prosperity.
