Saudi Foreign Minister discusses bilateral relations with his counterpart in Brunei

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, made a telephone call today, Thursday, to His Excellency the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, as part of the ongoing consultations between the two brotherly countries to strengthen the bonds of joint cooperation.
During the call, the two sides reviewed the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam and discussed ways to develop them in various fields to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and countries. They also discussed the most prominent developments on the regional and international scenes, the efforts being made in this regard, and a number of other topics of mutual interest.
The depth of historical and diplomatic relations
The relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam are characterized by deep historical ties and fraternal bonds based on shared Islamic faith, culture, and values. Both countries are active members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which strengthens their ongoing coordination on issues of concern to the Muslim world. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have witnessed remarkable development since their establishment, with both sides keen to exchange official visits and coordinate in international forums to serve the causes of international peace and security.
Alignment of economic and development visions
This connection is particularly important given the economic transformations underway in both countries. Saudi Arabia is forging ahead with its Vision 2030, which aims to diversify its sources of income, a goal that aligns with Brunei's Vision 2035, which seeks to build a dynamic and sustainable economy. This convergence of visions opens up broad prospects for investment and economic cooperation, especially in the energy, petrochemical, tourism, and Islamic economy sectors, as both countries are influential players in global energy markets.
Strategic dimension and relations with ASEAN
Regionally, Brunei Darussalam is a key partner for the Kingdom in Southeast Asia and a pivotal member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This diplomatic engagement reinforces the Kingdom's strategic eastward orientation and strengthens its ties with ASEAN countries, particularly following the Kingdom's signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation with the Association. This underscores the Kingdom's central role as a reliable international partner seeking to build bridges of cooperation with various global economic and political blocs.
