Qalibaf warns Trump: The region will burn because of reckless actions

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf delivered a strongly worded message to the US administration, with his warnings to Trump dominating the current political scene. The Iranian official asserted that the current policies and reckless actions of US President Donald Trump will only ignite the entire region, warning of dire consequences that could affect everyone without exception.
In an English-language post on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), Qalibaf explained that these reckless actions are dragging the United States into “hell for every family.” He added, in a decisive tone, that the entire region will burn as a result of insisting on following the orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He emphasized that the only real solution to avoid this catastrophic escalation lies in respecting the rights of the Iranian people and ending what he described as the “dangerous game” that threatens international peace and security.
Dimensions and repercussions of Qalibaf's warnings to Trump amid the escalation
These statements come within a complex historical context of ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington, which have witnessed numerous escalations over the past decades. Since the United States withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018 during Trump's first term and imposed harsh economic sanctions, relations have taken a confrontational trajectory. This tension has directly impacted maritime security in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically important oil shipping lanes. Threats of military force and attacks on infrastructure are reminiscent of past crises that nearly spiraled out of control and led to direct military confrontations between the two sides.
New US deadline and threats to target infrastructure
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump appeared to have taken a tactical step by extending the deadline given to Iran to reach an agreement that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and avert devastating military strikes. Trump posted a brief message on his official accounts specifying the new deadline: “Tuesday, 8:00 PM EST.” This extension, which postpones the ultimatum to Tehran by one day (until midnight Tuesday-Wednesday GMT), came after explicit threats to destroy Iran’s power plants and vital bridges if US demands were not met.
The expected impact of the crisis on the regional and international landscape
These rapid developments are of paramount importance and have profound implications that extend beyond the Iranian and American borders to encompass the regional and international arenas. Domestically, these threats place the Iranian economy and infrastructure under immense pressure, potentially impacting the daily lives of citizens. Regionally, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz or the outbreak of armed conflict raises serious concerns among neighboring countries regarding energy security and market stability, as approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes through this strait. Internationally, any large-scale military escalation would inevitably lead to a dramatic surge in global energy prices, threatening to slow the global economy and exacerbate inflation, not to mention the potential intervention of other international powers to protect their strategic interests in the Middle East.
