This event is a continuation of the longstanding and deeply rooted care that the wise leadership has historically bestowed upon the Islamic holy sites and their visitors, and an embodiment of its global mission to serve Islam and Muslims and promote the principles of moderation and balance.
The historical roots of the efforts to care for the Two Holy Mosques system
Since the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by its founder, King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God have mercy on him – the care of Islamic holy sites has been a top priority and a cornerstone of the state's policy. Successive kings have continued this legacy, implementing massive historical expansion projects and developing infrastructure to accommodate the increasing numbers of pilgrims. These efforts have not been limited to construction alone, but have extended to include educational, outreach, and guidance aspects. The establishment of specialized entities such as the General Presidency for Religious Affairs reflects a profound institutional vision aimed at preserving the sanctity of these holy sites and providing a comprehensive spiritual environment that enables pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility, while instilling noble Islamic values within them.
