124 million delivery orders in Saudi Arabia in the fourth quarter of 2025

The logistics sector in Saudi Arabia witnessed an unprecedented leap, as the delivery activity recorded record performance during the fourth quarter of 2025. The Public Transport Authority revealed in its latest statistical bulletin that the total number of orders exceeded 124 million transactions in various regions of the Kingdom, thus achieving a growth rate of 60% compared to the same period of the previous year, reflecting the great economic activity witnessed by the local markets.
Geographical distribution of orders: Riyadh leads
Detailed data revealed a disparity in demand across regions, with the capital, Riyadh, accounting for the lion's share of total transactions at 44.45%, reflecting its high population density and rapid commercial activity. Makkah came in second at 22.17%, followed by the Eastern Province at 15.90%. The remaining regions recorded the following percentages: Madinah (4.95%), Asir (3.31%), Qassim (2.62%), Tabuk (1.81%), and Hail (1.67%). Other regions recorded lower percentages, with Jazan at 1.13%, Najran at 0.68%, Al-Jawf at 0.61%, the Northern Borders at 0.49%, and finally Al-Baha at 0.21%.
Drivers of growth and digital transformation
This rapid growth is a direct result of the Kingdom's significant expansion of its digital infrastructure and the increasing reliance of consumers on delivery and e-commerce applications. Innovative technological solutions adopted by delivery companies, coupled with improved logistics services, have boosted customer confidence and increased daily demand. Furthermore, evolving consumer lifestyles and the shift towards smart, time-saving solutions have played a pivotal role in this remarkable increase.
Government regulation and its impact on the sector
This achievement is inextricably linked to the regulatory efforts led by the Public Transport Authority, which has worked over the past years to enact legislation and regulations that ensure service quality and passenger safety. These efforts included regulating the work of transport operators, implementing standardized identification, and electronically linking systems, all of which contributed to creating a fair and competitive environment that is attractive to investment. These figures are a positive indicator of the success of the strategic plans aimed at regulating the sector and enhancing its operational efficiency.
Economic impact and alignment with Vision 2030
The delivery sector today represents a significant contributor to the non-oil economy, creating thousands of job opportunities for young Saudis in operational, administrative, and technical fields. This growth aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics hub and boost the contribution of e-commerce to GDP, confirming that the Saudi market has become one of the most mature and attractive in the region for logistics services and smart applications.
