Saudi Defense Minister discusses military cooperation with his Kuwaiti counterpart

His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Minister of Defense , received in Riyadh today His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Minister of Defense of the State of Kuwait, as part of the mutual visits aimed at strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

During the meeting, the historical and deep-rooted fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait were reviewed, in addition to discussing aspects of bilateral cooperation in the defense and military field, and ways to strengthen and develop it in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and enhances the capabilities of the Gulf defense system.

The importance of Gulf military coordination

These talks come at a crucial time, necessitating enhanced coordination and consultation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. Saudi-Kuwaiti relations are rooted in a deep historical legacy of shared destiny and common stances on various issues. Defense cooperation between Riyadh and Kuwait is a cornerstone of the Gulf security framework, with the military leaderships of both countries continuously striving to unify their visions and coordinate their efforts to address potential security challenges.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the region and the efforts underway to de-escalate tensions and achieve regional and international security and stability. The meeting was attended on the Saudi side by His Highness Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Deputy Minister of Defense, His Excellency Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, His Excellency Assistant Minister of Defense, Engineer Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and the Director General of the Office of His Highness the Minister of Defense, Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.

On the Kuwaiti side, those present included the Governor of Al-Farwaniyah Governorate, Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, the Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate and Acting Governor of Hawalli Governorate, Sheikh Sabah Bader Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Kingdom, Sheikh Sabah Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and a number of senior officials in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense.
