Saudi customs ports: 642 smuggling attempts thwarted in one week
As part of its ongoing efforts to protect national and societal security, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced a new security achievement: thwarting 642 smuggling attempts across all customs ports in the Kingdom in just one week. This result underscores the high level of vigilance demonstrated by the Authority's personnel and their ability to combat contraband of all types and forms, forming the first line of defense for the country's security and economy.
The seizures included a wide range of prohibited and dangerous substances, with 81 types of narcotics confiscated, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, and Captagon pills. In addition, the smuggling of more than 200 other prohibited substances, 1,392 tobacco products, and eight attempts to smuggle cash, as well as six types of weapons and related equipment, were thwarted, reflecting the diverse criminal methods employed by smugglers.
