Crown Prince and President Sisi: Summit to strengthen relations and confront challenges

A strategic meeting in Jeddah to strengthen Saudi-Egyptian relations
In a meeting reflecting the deep-rooted strategic relations between the two brotherly countries, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. The meeting took place over an Iftar meal during Ramadan, where His Royal Highness the Crown Prince welcomed His Excellency the Egyptian President to his second home, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Excellency expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.
Historical roots and a solid partnership
This meeting is the latest in a long series of ongoing coordination and consultation between Riyadh and Cairo, two major poles and key players in the Arab and Islamic worlds. Saudi-Egyptian relations are based on a historical legacy of close cooperation across various political, economic, and cultural fields. Coordination between the two countries has consistently been a cornerstone of regional security, playing a pivotal role in addressing shared challenges and shaping collective Arab positions on various crises. The Saudi-Egyptian Coordination Council is one of the most prominent institutional mechanisms aimed at elevating bilateral cooperation to broader horizons.
Meeting agenda: From bilateral issues to regional matters
During the meeting, the close and historic bilateral relations between the two countries were reviewed, and ways to develop and strengthen them in various fields were discussed, particularly in the economic, investment, and development sectors, in a manner that serves common interests and fulfills the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples. The two sides also addressed the overall situation in the Arab and Islamic worlds, recent developments in the Middle East, and the efforts being made to ensure the region's security and stability.
The importance of coordination in light of current challenges
This meeting is of particular importance given the escalating challenges facing the region, as Saudi-Egyptian coordination is a strategic necessity to confront these challenges. The discussions addressed pressing issues in depth, most notably the developments in the Gaza Strip and the efforts underway to achieve a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid, in addition to matters related to Red Sea security and the stability of Sudan. Any convergence of views between Riyadh and Cairo will have a direct impact on the overall regional landscape and contribute to strengthening diplomatic efforts aimed at defusing crises and consolidating the foundations of security and peace.
The meeting was attended on the Saudi side by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, and National Security Advisor; His Excellency Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed, Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers for Shura Council Affairs; and His Excellency Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan, President of the General Intelligence Directorate. On the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by Major General Ahmed Mohamed Ali, Chief of Staff of the Presidency; Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad; Major General Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, Director of the General Intelligence Directorate; and Counselor Omar Marwan, Director of the Office of the President.
