The Engineers Authority introduces 6 new divisions: specializations and application requirements

This step comes in response to the requirements of major projects and vital sectors targeted by the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Nominations for membership in the councils of these new divisions will open on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

With the Kingdom's focus on maximizing the utilization of mineral resources and recognizing mining as the third pillar of national industry, the urgent need for a mining engineering . Similarly, with the expansion of Red Sea projects and logistics services, marine engineering a pressing necessity, alongside agricultural engineering , which supports the goals of sustainable food security.
New specializations and application deadlines
The authority clarified that the new list of departments includes the following specializations:
- Mining engineering.
- Marine engineering.
- Agricultural engineering.
- Safety engineering.
- Facilities management.
- Biomedical engineering.
The authority confirmed that the nomination window will start at 10:00 AM on January 27, 2026, and will continue until 10:00 AM on February 9, 2026, thus providing ample opportunity for qualified engineers to prepare their files and apply to compete.
Strict standards to ensure quality and efficiency
To ensure the high level of competence and professionalism of the councils of these divisions, the Saudi Council of Engineers has established precise criteria for candidates. Applicants must be current and active members of the Council, and, most importantly, hold a professional certification of at least "Professional." This requirement reflects the Council's desire to export experienced talent to lead these emerging specializations.
Special requirements for safety engineering and facilities management
Given the sensitive nature of the "Safety Engineering" and "Facilities Management" specializations and their direct link to quality of life and the sustainability of assets and projects, the Authority has added further requirements for candidates in these two fields. The regulations stipulate a minimum of five years of proven practical experience in the same field, or possession of internationally or locally accredited professional certifications.
