Cabinet: Measures to protect the Kingdom's security and support Yemen's stability

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, chaired the Cabinet meeting held today in the capital, Riyadh, which witnessed a comprehensive review of all local, regional and international situations, with a focus on the security and political files of the highest priority for the Kingdom.
Message from the Russian leadership and strengthening the strategic partnership
At the beginning of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Council on the contents of the written message he received from Russian President Vladimir Putin. This message comes within the context of growing bilateral relations between Riyadh and Moscow, as both countries play a pivotal role in stabilizing global energy markets, in addition to ongoing coordination on political and economic matters that serve common interests and enhance investment opportunities and trade cooperation between the two friendly nations.
The Saudi-Omani partnership: A model for Gulf integration
Regarding Gulf relations, the Cabinet noted the outcomes of the third meeting of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council. This council is a cornerstone for deepening the historical ties between the two countries, and the Cabinet commended the significant progress achieved in vital sectors such as energy, industry, and investment. These steps are of strategic importance as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states strive to achieve economic integration that addresses global challenges and ensures the well-being of the Gulf peoples.
The Yemeni file: The Kingdom's constants and rejection of escalation
On regional affairs, the Council devoted considerable time to discussing developments in the Republic of Yemen. The Council reiterated that the Kingdom's security is a red line, emphasizing that it will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to protect its national security. The Council expressed its full support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate government, commending the efforts of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in protecting civilians in Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.
In a related context, the Council expressed its regret over the setbacks to de-escalation efforts resulting from an unjustified escalation that contradicts the objectives of the Coalition, calling for prioritizing wisdom and the higher interests of Yemen. The Council emphasized the necessity for all parties to respond to the Yemeni government's request regarding military and security arrangements and to cease any support that contributes to instability, in order to preserve fraternal ties and the future of the region.
Supporting Somalia's sovereignty and rejecting partition
Internationally, the Kingdom affirmed its firm position in support of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing its categorical rejection of any unilateral actions that could lead to the division of the country or a violation of international law, including recent moves related to the “Somaliland” region, stressing the need to respect international charters that guarantee the sovereignty and independence of states.
Capital development and infrastructure projects
Domestically, the Council continued to monitor progress on the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, noting the commencement of the third phase of major road and ring road development projects in Riyadh. These mega-projects aim to transform the capital into a global logistics hub and enhance the quality of life by improving traffic flow and strengthening the sustainable transportation system, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to developing infrastructure to keep pace with rapid population and economic growth.
International resolutions and agreements
The Council concluded its session by issuing a number of decisions and approvals, including the signing of memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with several countries, including Pakistan, Hungary, Palestine, and Iraq in the fields of energy, justice, communications, and health, in addition to approving the Kingdom’s accession to international agreements related to civil aviation security, which enhances the Kingdom’s active presence in international forums.
