The "One-Third of the Sacrifice" initiative distributes 220 tons of meat in Riyadh

The "One-Third of the Sacrifice" initiative , launched by the Riyadh Municipality, achieved unprecedented success during this year's Eid al-Adha season. The initiative effectively delivered food aid and distributed sacrificial meat to over 207,000 beneficiaries from eligible families across the capital and its governorates. This achievement represents a significant leap forward, with a 48% increase compared to last year, when the number of beneficiaries reached approximately 140,000. This reflects the ongoing development of charitable and volunteer work mechanisms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The amount of meat donated and distributed exceeded 220 tons, compared to 150 tons last year. The distribution process was carried out with high efficiency and reliability to ensure that the aid reached its intended beneficiaries among the residents of the Riyadh region. This contributes to strengthening the authentic Islamic values of social solidarity and deepening the bonds of unity and love among different segments of society during the blessed days of Eid.

Dimensions of social solidarity in the "One-Third of the Sacrifice" initiative

This initiative stems from deeply rooted Islamic values that encourage compassion and cooperation, as the sacrifice (Qurbani) is a significant religious rite with profound social and humanitarian dimensions. Historically, Saudi society has consistently organized individual and institutional charitable efforts to ensure that meat is not wasted and reaches those most in need. The "One-Third of the Sacrifice" initiative represents a modern, digital, and organizational transformation of these inherited traditions, shifting from haphazard individual efforts to a structured, institutionalized approach that adheres to the highest standards of quality, health, and environmental safety.

Strategic partnerships and broad government integration

This success would not have been possible without the integration and close cooperation between various sectors. This year, the initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and in strategic partnership with 89 charitable organizations from the non-profit sector, compared to 60 last year. The initiative also witnessed a significant turnout from young Saudi talent, with the number of volunteers increasing by an astonishing 182%, with more than 2,000 volunteers contributing their efforts to organization and distribution, compared to only 711 volunteers the previous year. This highlights the growing culture of volunteerism in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Advanced operational mechanisms to ensure quality and safety

The Riyadh Municipality enabled residents of Riyadh and its surrounding governorates to donate one-third of their sacrificial animals through 38 designated collection points. The approved operational channels included official slaughterhouses and partner charities, where the meat underwent meticulous sorting and packaging processes. It was then transported via a fleet of refrigerated vehicles to ensure its safety and nutritional quality until it reached the homes of beneficiary families. This advanced mechanism helps reduce environmental pollution resulting from unregulated slaughter and ensures the provision of a healthy and safe product to recipients, thus enhancing the efficiency of charitable work in the Kingdom and improving the quality of urban life.
