Saudi Arabia welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Syria and the integration of the SDF

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strong welcome of the ceasefire agreement reached in the Syrian Arab Republic, which includes a significant strategic step: the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with all its civilian and military institutions, into the structure of the Syrian state. The Ministry commended the intensive diplomatic efforts exerted by the United States of America to facilitate this agreement and bridge the differences between the parties involved.

This Saudi stance stems from the Kingdom's pivotal role in the region and its unwavering commitment to supporting political solutions that end the bloodshed and safeguard the well-being of the people. Riyadh views this agreement as a pivotal turning point in the Syrian crisis, which has persisted for over a decade. The integration of forces and institutions in northeastern Syria represents a practical step towards ending the geographical and administrative divisions that have plagued the country, thereby strengthening the prospects for the Syrian state to regain full sovereignty over all its territory.

In a related context, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hopes that this agreement will form the cornerstone for a new era of security and sustainable stability, paving the way for building strong national institutions and upholding the rule of law. The Kingdom affirms that the success of this integration and the consolidation of the ceasefire will fulfill the aspirations of the brotherly Syrian people for development and prosperity, contribute to creating the appropriate conditions for the return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes, and facilitate the commencement of long-awaited reconstruction projects.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom's full and continued support for all efforts undertaken by the Syrian government to promote civil peace, preserve national unity, and prevent any foreign interference that could threaten the stability of the region. This welcome aligns with recent Arab diplomatic initiatives aimed at activating the Arab role in resolving regional crises and ensuring Syria's return to its natural role within its Arab and regional environment, in a manner that serves Arab national security interests and strengthens the framework for joint action.
