Climatic and geographical diversity in the Kingdom
The readings recorded today show the natural variations in the climate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the holy and western coastal areas (Mecca, Jeddah, Medina) recording the highest rates, which is normal given their geographical nature, their low elevation below sea level, and the proximity of some of them to bodies of water that increase the feeling of humidity and heat.
In contrast, the southern and southwestern highlands maintained their mild to cool weather, with the Al-Soudah region recording the lowest maximum temperature at 18 degrees Celsius, followed by Al-Baha at 21 degrees, and Abha at 24 degrees. This variation makes these areas popular tourist destinations for escaping the hot weather in other regions.
The importance of daily weather monitoring
The National Center for Meteorology plays a pivotal role in the daily lives of the Kingdom's residents. Through a vast network of radars and advanced monitoring stations, it provides accurate data that assists relevant authorities in planning and contributes to enhancing safety on highways connecting distant cities. Furthermore, knowing the temperatures helps citizens and residents take necessary precautions, whether it's dressing appropriately or avoiding direct sun exposure in areas experiencing high temperatures.
