Today's weather in Saudi Arabia: Rain, wind, and dust

The climate is experiencing constant fluctuations, and weather conditions in Saudi Arabia a daily concern for citizens and residents, who are eager to know when rain is expected and avoid dangerous areas. In this context, the National Center for Meteorology, in its report issued today, Friday, revealed forecasts of continued moderate to heavy thunderstorms, which may lead to flash floods in several regions. This weather pattern will be accompanied by hail and strong winds that will stir up dust and sand, necessitating caution and adherence to safety guidelines.

Climatic features and rainfall seasons in the Kingdom

The Arabian Peninsula is characterized by a desert climate punctuated by transitional periods between seasons, which are typically marked by sharp weather fluctuations. Historically, these seasons are known for the formation of cumulonimbus clouds that rapidly and intensely release their rain, particularly over the southwestern highlands and eastern regions. The National Center of Meteorology continuously monitors these cyclical weather changes, relying on decades of climate records, to issue early warnings that help protect lives and property from the dangers of flash floods and dust storms that can reduce visibility.

The impact of weather fluctuations on vital sectors and society

The importance of monitoring weather forecasts extends beyond simply knowing the temperature; it encompasses far-reaching effects at the local and regional levels. These heavy rains and strong winds are expected to impact land and air traffic, in addition to their direct and positive impact on the agricultural sector, which benefits from these rains in irrigating crops and replenishing groundwater reserves. Meanwhile, relevant authorities, such as civil defense and municipalities, are mobilizing their resources to manage water accumulation and ensure the smooth flow of traffic, reflecting the high level of preparedness of the infrastructure to face recurring weather challenges.

Weather details in Saudi Arabia and the distribution of thunderstorms

According to the official report, the chances of heavy rainfall are concentrated in parts of the Eastern Province, while light to moderate rain is expected in parts of Najran, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, and Riyadh. The effects will also extend to parts of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, and the Northern Borders regions. Meteorologists do not rule out the formation of dense fog during the night and early morning hours in parts of these regions, as well as parts of Hail and Qassim, requiring drivers to exercise extreme caution due to reduced visibility.

Advanced warnings for residents of the Eastern Province

The center issued special alerts for the Eastern Province, where the weather phenomenon is expected to begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 7:00 PM. The alert for light rain covers the cities of Al-Khobar, Dammam, Qatif, and Ras Tanura, accompanied by active winds, reduced horizontal visibility, and high waves.
