Medical services in the Kingdom reach 97.4% of the population easily

A recent official report issued by the Saudi Ministry of Health revealed an unprecedented leap in facilitating access to medical services in the Kingdom, now efficiently covering approximately 97.4% of the population. This achievement reflects the massive investments and strategic plans led by the government to develop the health sector, compared to a coverage rate of 84.1% in 2019, representing a radical transformation in the quality of healthcare provided to both citizens and residents.

Vision 2030 and the restructuring of the Saudi health sector

This digital and operational leap comes as part of the Health Sector Transformation Program, a key component of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Historically, the health sector has faced challenges related to the geographical distribution of healthcare facilities and the increasing pressure on central hospitals. To address these challenges, the Ministry of Health adopted the “health clusters” model, which aims to provide integrated and interconnected care that is patient-centered and facilitates access to services in their place of residence, thus reducing the need to travel to major cities for treatment.

According to the report, the Ministry has successfully covered all regions of the Kingdom through 20 integrated health clusters, supported by a robust infrastructure that includes more than 44,000 hospital beds and over 2,000 primary healthcare centers. This strategic expansion has not been limited to major cities but has extended to outlying areas and remote villages, ensuring equal access to high-quality healthcare for all segments of society without exception.

Indicators of care quality and beneficiary satisfaction are constantly rising

Official indicators showed a remarkable rise in patient satisfaction rates; the hospital admission experience saw a significant increase, reaching 89% compared to 82.4% in 2019. The overall patient experience improvement index also rose to 86.6%, confirming the success of efforts to humanize healthcare services and prioritize the patient.
