Saudi Arabia distributes 5 tons of dates in Austria as part of the King's program

As part of its ongoing efforts to serve Muslims worldwide, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' program for distributing premium dates in the Republic of Austria, coinciding with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan 1445 AH. The official launch ceremony was held at the Kingdom's embassy in Vienna, in the presence of prominent figures and representatives of the Muslim community.
Historical background and context of the initiative
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Dates Gift Program is an annual global initiative reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading role in the Islamic world and its commitment to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity among Muslims. Dates hold a special place in Islamic heritage, as it is recommended for those fasting to break their fast with them, following the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Given that the Kingdom is one of the world's largest producers of high-quality dates, this Ramadan gift carries profound cultural and religious significance, reaching millions of Muslims in dozens of countries across continents.
Program details in Austria and its local impact
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Austria, Dr. Abdullah bin Khalid Tolah, the President of the Islamic Center and General Supervisor of the Islamic Association in Vienna, Dr. Ahmed bin Saad Al-Mufarrah, and the Head of the Islamic Affairs Department at the Embassy, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Nasser. The quantity allocated to the Republic of Austria this year is 5 tons of dates, which are expected to benefit approximately 20,000 Muslims from various communities residing in the country.
Ambassador Tawla emphasized that the distribution process will be coordinated with Islamic centers and accredited mosques in various Austrian cities to ensure this valuable gift reaches those who need it most. This initiative helps alleviate the burdens on Muslim families during the holy month, strengthens their sense of belonging and connection with their fellow Muslims, and serves as a bridge for cultural exchange, reflecting the enlightened image of Islam and the values of giving that the Kingdom upholds.
International and diplomatic importance of the program
Internationally, this program represents a cornerstone of the Kingdom's humanitarian and religious diplomacy. It not only provides material assistance but also carries a message of peace and compassion that transcends geographical boundaries. Beneficiaries of the program expressed their profound gratitude to the Kingdom's leadership, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, for this generous gesture, which is repeated annually. The Ambassador also extended his thanks to His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, for the Ministry's tireless efforts in ensuring the success of this global program and conveying the Kingdom's noble message to the world.
