Saudi Arabia is setting up a camp to house returnees in Tel al-Hawa, Gaza

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts and its leading role in providing relief to those affected by disasters worldwide, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center implementing its urgent programs in the Gaza Strip. Yesterday, the Center established a new camp to shelter displaced persons in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City, designated to receive families who have decided to return from displacement camps in the central and southern parts of the Strip to their original homes in the north.
Urgent response in Tel al-Hawa
The establishment of this camp comes as an immediate response to the dire housing crisis faced by the residents of Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, one of the areas most affected by military operations and ongoing bombardment. Returning residents found themselves facing a tragic reality after their homes were razed to the ground and the infrastructure almost completely destroyed, making the provision of safe shelter a top priority to preserve the dignity of these families and protect them from homelessness.
Context of the Saudi popular campaign
This initiative falls under the the Saudi public campaign to aid the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister. Through the "Sahem" platform, the campaign has successfully raised substantial donations, and the Kingdom has established continuous air and sea bridges to transport thousands of tons of food, medical supplies, and shelter materials, reflecting the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Palestinian peoples.

The Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, the implementing partner of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in the Gaza Strip, oversaw the camp's on-site implementation.
