Saudi Arabia assumes the presidency of ARABOSAI for a second term until 2028 in a historic achievement

In a move reflecting the growing regional and international confidence in the Saudi oversight system, the General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), during its fifteenth session held in Jeddah, announced the start of the second presidential term for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Auditing Bureau, for the period from (2025-2028).

A historical precedent since the founding

This event marks a historic precedent for the organization, as the General Auditing Bureau becomes the first audit body to assume the presidency of the organization for two consecutive terms (2022-2025 and 2025-2028) since the founding of ARABOSAI in 1976. This renewal clearly reflects the success of the strategies adopted by the Kingdom during its first term, its tireless efforts to enhance joint action, and its introduction of high-quality initiatives that have added real value to member institutions, thus reinforcing the conviction of Arab states of the necessity for Saudi Arabia to continue its leadership in the next phase.

Supporting leadership and enabling oversight work

Commenting on this achievement, His Excellency Dr. Hossam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Anqari, President of the General Auditing Bureau and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Organization, affirmed that this accomplishment would not have been possible without the unlimited support the Bureau receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them both. Al-Anqari noted that this support has enabled the Saudi auditing body to attain a leading position, not only in the Arab world, but also at the continental and international levels.

Global leadership that transcends regional boundaries

Saudi Arabia's role extends beyond the Arab world, encompassing the global landscape of financial oversight. In addition to its presidency of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), the Kingdom is poised to lead the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) by 2027, culminating in its presidency of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) in 2031, where it currently serves as Second Vice-President. This series of leadership positions underscores the Kingdom's commitment to promoting transparency and accountability standards globally.

Strategic goals to enhance transparency

Under continued Saudi leadership, the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) strives to achieve a number of strategic objectives, most notably organizing and strengthening cooperation among supreme audit institutions in Arab countries and exchanging expertise and knowledge with similar international organizations. The organization also aims to raise awareness of auditing and promote governance principles, ensuring the optimal use of public resources and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of government agencies in member states, in line with modern trends in public financial management.
