Saudi aid for Gaza crosses Rafah: Food and shelter delivered via the King Salman Center
As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian people, a new shipment of Saudi aid crossed the Rafah border crossing today, heading towards the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in southeastern Gaza. This convoy, provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , will be distributed within the Gaza Strip in full coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent.
Details of food and shelter assistance
The new convoy includes large quantities of comprehensive food baskets intended to meet the basic needs of affected families, as part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. This aid is of paramount importance given the severe food shortages suffered by the residents of the Strip due to the current circumstances.
Alongside the influx of food aid, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continues its efforts in the shelter sector, working to establish fully equipped Saudi camps in the Al-Qarara area in the southern Gaza Strip and the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis. These camps aim to shelter thousands of displaced people who have lost their homes, providing them with safe haven as the harsh winter and bitter cold threaten the lives of children, women, and the elderly.
Context of the Saudi popular campaign and its historical role
This aid comes in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister, who instructed the launch of the popular campaign through the “Sahem” platform to provide relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The campaign witnessed widespread public participation, reflecting the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Palestinian peoples.
Since the beginning of the crisis, the Kingdom has operated an air bridge and a sea bridge to transport thousands of tons of medical, food and shelter aid, in addition to ambulances and heavy equipment, making the Kingdom one of the leading countries that responded to the humanitarian appeal in Gaza.
The importance of aid in light of the humanitarian crisis
This aid is a vital lifeline for the people of Gaza, given UN reports warning of food insecurity and deteriorating health conditions. Through these ongoing convoys, the Kingdom seeks to alleviate human suffering and provide urgent support to the most vulnerable groups.
These field movements confirm the firm position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the Palestinian cause on all levels, not only politically and diplomatically, but also in humanitarian and relief terms, to ensure the provision of the necessities for a decent life for the Palestinian brothers until this crisis is over.
