Results of the Safe and Excellent Roads Campaign: 5,214 observations recorded on its first day

The General Authority for Roads announced the initial results of its sixth annual “Safe and Excellent Roads” campaign, launched by His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser. This extensive national campaign aims to comprehensively survey the road network outside urban areas, contributing to improved safety and maintenance standards and ensuring the quality of road infrastructure across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Day 1 results: Extensive coverage and accurate figures

The authority revealed details of the results of the first day of field surveys, during which field teams recorded 5,214 diverse observations on the Kingdom's roads. Of these, 353 observations were received through the "938" call center platforms, reflecting community engagement with the campaign, while the remaining observations were recorded by specialized survey teams.

On its first day, the campaign successfully surveyed 28% of the targeted road network, with the participation of over 620 members. The teams comprised representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, university students, members of the Special Forces for Road Security, and representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, who were distributed across 61 field teams covering various regions of the Kingdom.

Geographical distribution of observed data

Statistics showed a disparity in the number of observations across regions, with Riyadh topping the list with 1,154 observations, followed by Qassim with 930, and Makkah with 610. Madinah came in fourth with 534 observations, while the Eastern Province recorded 362.

In the remaining regions, field teams recorded 292 observations in Jazan, 286 in Tabuk, 259 in Asir, and 258 in Al-Jawf. 192 observations were recorded in Hail, 156 in Al-Baha, and 106 in Najran, while the Northern Borders region recorded the fewest observations with 75.

The importance of the campaign in the context of the Kingdom's Vision 2030

The “Safe and Distinguished Roads” campaign is of major strategic importance, as it aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy stemming from the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The Kingdom, which has one of the largest road networks in the world, seeks to reach sixth place globally in the road quality index, with a primary focus on reducing accident fatalities and enhancing traffic safety standards.

These annual campaigns are a fundamental pillar for preserving national assets represented by the road network, and ensuring its sustainability to serve transportation and trade, which positively impacts the quality of life and supports economic development in all regions.

Call for community participation via 938

The Public Roads Authority renewed its call to all citizens and residents to actively participate in the campaign's success, emphasizing that road users are the primary partners in the development process. The Authority urged everyone to observe and document any visual distortions or irregularities and report them via the "938" application or by contacting the unified call center, where a qualified team of specialists works around the clock to provide the necessary support and address reports. This underscores the Authority's commitment to removing obstacles and providing a safe and comfortable transportation experience for all.
