Results of the fourth day of the "Safe and Distinguished Roads" campaign in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi General Authority for Roads announced the results of the fourth day of its sixth annual “Safe and Excellent Roads” campaign, revealing 997 various observations on road networks outside urban areas. This intensive campaign involves broad participation from the transportation and logistics sector, security agencies, and the education sector, aiming to survey and evaluate the road network and improve safety and maintenance standards.
Strategic context: Road quality and Vision 2030
The “Safe and Excellent Roads” campaign is not merely a routine procedure, but an integral part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy stemming from the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Through these initiatives, the Kingdom aims to enhance its position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents, which necessitates world-class infrastructure. The General Authority for Roads is working diligently to reduce traffic fatalities and elevate the Kingdom to sixth place globally in road quality, reflecting the paramount importance of continuous surveying and monitoring to proactively address any defects and technical issues.

More than 620 members are involved, distributed across 61 field teams covering all regions of the Kingdom. These teams include representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, university students gaining valuable field experience, members of the Special Forces for Road Security to ensure smooth operations, and representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to enhance the technical aspects of monitoring.
The role of technology and community engagement
In its pursuit of digitizing services and enhancing the user experience on roads, the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) has invited all citizens and residents to be partners in this success by reporting any observations or visual distortions. PRT has provided effective and rapid communication channels, most notably the “938” application and the unified “938” call center, where a specialized team works around the clock to receive and process reports, contributing to improved road efficiency and ensuring safe travel for all.
